She kindly sent me a inspiration color pallet as well as some verse to incorporate in the 20 x 20 finished work.
Here is the juicy inspiration, perfect in time for the switch from summer to fall.
The first layering of paint made me super excited for the project. I loved the earthy tones that she had selected. They are right up my alley, though I realized I hadn't really painted anything with these colors. I had to ask myself WHY?
I used a technique of adding thick layers of painting With bold brush strokes. Then I added some light layers of spray paint and began lifting off sections with a crumpled paper towel. I almost didn't want to keep painting because I didn't want to cover the delicious results and textures that had formed.
Through multiple layers of additional painting with brushes and fingers along with stencils and paint markers (love my paint markers, need more paint markers)
The painting was finished, boxed and mailed.
Painting received and ready for the surprise gift!
I have to add this final picture - of a an "inspired by" painting from the color pallet. It is a 16 x 20 that Is for sale at Smiling Turtle Art Spot in Omaha, NE. $85. It can be hung as is, or can easily be framed. Stop by to check it out. www.smilingturtleartspot.com
